**Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra –** A 27-year-old man, Swapnil Shivsharan Pawar, was arrested early Thursday morning after setting fire to over a dozen two-wheelers in a residential colony in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune. The incident, captured on CCTV footage, occurred around 3 am. Pawar allegedly poured flammable liquid on the parked vehicles before igniting them with a lighter and fleeing the scene.

At least 13 vehicles were completely destroyed in the blaze. Police responded swiftly following a complaint from residents.

Pawar’s arrest followed a dispute with his mother, who refused his request for money to buy drugs. He reportedly threatened to set fire to the vehicles and even the building if his demand was not met. His mother and brother pleaded with police to keep him in custody, citing years of drug abuse, threats of violence, and concerns for their safety. They revealed a history of sending him to rehab and providing him with money out of fear.

One resident described Pawar as intelligent, noting his engineering background and the family’s repeated attempts to seek professional help for his addiction. The family expressed deep distress and fear for their future, given the potential for eviction due to the incident.

Pawar remains in police custody. The investigation is ongoing.
