**Vijayawada, March 12, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a significant expansion of its affordable housing scheme, providing increased financial assistance to low-income families. NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha revealed that the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme will now include additional funding: ₹50,000 for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Backward Castes (BCs), ₹75,000 for Scheduled Tribes (STs), and ₹100,000 for Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs). This is in addition to the existing ₹180,000 per unit. The increase is formalized under Government Order Rt. No. 9.
Currently, over 8,000 houses are under construction in the NTR district alone, targeting SC, ST, and BC beneficiaries. An awareness campaign will launch March 15th to encourage wider participation. Collector Lakshmisha emphasized the scheme’s importance as a key component of the state’s “Swarnandhra Vision 2047” initiative. The government aims to provide housing for all, addressing the critical need for affordable homes in the state.
