**Bengaluru, March 12, 2025** – Karnataka has surpassed its energy conservation and efficiency target by a significant margin, achieving over 800 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of savings. This achievement comes well ahead of the five-year deadline (2022-2027) set by the state’s Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Policy.
According to K.P. Rudrappaiah, Managing Director of Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL), the target of 744 million kWh was exceeded through the implementation of sector-specific goals. Speaking at the inauguration of a stakeholder workshop on March 10th, Rudrappaiah expressed confidence in further progress, emphasizing collaboration with relevant departments and energy sector leaders. KREDL, the nodal agency for the policy’s implementation, attributes the success to a concerted effort across various sectors.
