Tue Mar 11 19:28:01 UTC 2025: ## Lebanon Receives Four Hostages from Israel Amid Border Talks

**Beirut, Lebanon** – Lebanon has received four Lebanese hostages held by Israel, sparking hope for a resolution to the long-standing border dispute between the two countries. The hostages arrived at a hospital in Tyre, southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese media reports. A fifth hostage is expected to be released on Wednesday.

This development follows Israel’s announcement that it has agreed to participate in talks to demarcate the border with Lebanon, facilitated by the US and France. The Israeli government described the release of the hostages as a “gesture to the Lebanese president.” The talks will involve working groups focusing on the demarcation line and Israel’s continued occupation of five strategic points in southern Lebanon.

US Deputy Special Envoy for the Middle East, Morgan Ortagus, confirmed the US’ commitment to finding a political resolution to the border dispute. She highlighted the establishment of working groups to maintain momentum in the process.

The hostage release and the initiation of border talks come after a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in November 2023, which concluded over a year of conflict. While the ceasefire stipulated Israel’s complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory, Israeli forces remain stationed at five locations. This continued presence remains a major point of contention, as highlighted by Al Jazeera.
