**NEW DELHI** – The Delhi High Court has ordered the removal of a YouTube video and related content by YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh that allegedly defamed the Isha Foundation, led by spiritual guru Sadhguru (Jagadish Jaggi Vasudev). The court issued an interim order on Wednesday in response to a lawsuit filed by the Isha Foundation.
Justice Subramonium Prasad deemed the video, titled “Sadhguru EXPOSED: What’s happening in Jaggi Vasudev’s Ashram?”, to be clickbait and based on unverified information. The judge stated that the video’s continued circulation was likely to harm the foundation’s reputation.
The court directed X (formerly Twitter), Meta, and Google to remove the video and all related content deemed defamatory. The order also prevents Singh from further publishing the allegations and prohibits the public from sharing the video on social media platforms until a further hearing in May.
The Isha Foundation’s counsel argued that the video, which has garnered over 900,000 views and 13,500 comments since its February 24th upload, contained false and baseless allegations, including claims of child sexual abuse, without any credible evidence. The foundation asserted that emails cited by Singh as evidence were fabricated.
The court acknowledged the importance of balancing freedom of speech with the right to reputation, noting that the damage to the foundation’s reputation from the video’s continued presence online could not be easily compensated. The interim order aims to prevent further reputational harm while the case proceeds.
