Wed Mar 12 06:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Assembly Budget Session Begins Amidst Protest and Controversy

**Hyderabad, March 12, 2025** – The Telangana Assembly’s budget session commenced today with a dramatic start, marked by protests and controversy surrounding the Governor’s address. The session saw the unusual deployment of 23 marshals around the Chairman’s podium, a move that drew immediate criticism from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). YSRCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana voiced his objections, stating that such security measures were inappropriate for the legislative assembly. The Chairman responded that members could express their dissent from their seats. Despite the protests, the session continued under the watchful eye of the marshals.

The Governor, Dr. Jishnu Dev Varma, delivered his address, highlighting the state government’s achievements and outlining its future plans. Key highlights included the promise of ₹500 gas cylinders and initiatives to enhance youth skills through Young India Skill Universities. The Governor’s speech also touched upon the state’s development trajectory and its commitment to social justice. However, the speech was met with murmurs and apparent disinterest from the ruling BRS party.

Following the Governor’s address, the assembly was adjourned until tomorrow. The BRS reacted critically to the Governor’s speech, alleging that it contained inaccuracies, while the Congress praised the speech as reflective of the government’s performance. Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) later held a press conference, accusing the Congress of manipulating the Governor into delivering a misleading speech and refuting claims of extensive loan waivers in Telangana. He attributed the Congress’s actions to frustration and anger towards the BRS and KCR.

Meanwhile, the session also saw unrelated news from the entertainment world, with reports on actress Malavika Mohanan’s admiration for Virat Kohli and a viral video of MS Dhoni dancing at Rishabh Pant’s sister’s wedding.
