**Hyderabad, March 12, 2025** – Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma delivered the traditional address to the state legislature today, marking the commencement of the budget session. His speech emphasized the state government’s commitment to inclusive growth, technological advancement, and sustainable development.

The Governor highlighted several key initiatives, including the expansion of metro rail networks, the Musi river rejuvenation project, and the development of Future City, all aimed at transforming urban living and boosting economic potential. He also lauded the state’s efforts to attract investments in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and high-tech industries.

Significant social welfare programs were also mentioned, including free bus travel for women, crop loan waivers, ₹12,000 assistance to landless farmers, and subsidized LPG cylinders. The Indira Mahila Shakti Mission, aiming to create one crore women entrepreneurs with a ₹1 lakh crore outlay, was also highlighted.

A landmark caste survey, described as a crucial step towards building an equitable society, was mentioned, along with the proposed bill to provide 42% reservation for Backward Classes based on its findings. A further bill for the sub-categorization of Scheduled Castes is also planned.

On the economic front, the Governor noted the success of the Telangana Rising delegation at the World Economic Forum, securing ₹1.78 lakh crore in investments and creating 49,500 jobs. New policies for MSMEs and tourism were also unveiled. The state’s commitment to establishing 6,000 EV charging stations by 2029-30 to support clean mobility was also highlighted.

The address was punctuated by minor disruptions, with the ruling party celebrating the government’s achievements while the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) countered. The budget session will now proceed to finalize the annual financial statement for 2025-26.
