Tue Mar 11 15:18:43 UTC 2025: ## American Expat Lists 10 Indian Conveniences She Wishes Were in the US

**MUMBAI, INDIA** – An American expat living in India has highlighted ten aspects of Indian life that she believes are far more convenient than their US counterparts. Kristen Fischer, a mother of three who moved to India four years ago, shared her observations in a recent Instagram video.

Fischer’s top picks include India’s digital infrastructure, specifically the Unified Payment Interface (UPI). She lauded its ease of use, stating, “I can go out with just my phone, and that’s enough.” She believes this cashless system is a model the world should adopt.

Other conveniences Fischer cited include the readily available and affordable auto-rickshaws for transportation, the ease of accessing medical care (with appointments often unnecessary and prescriptions not always required), and the efficient and affordable government-mandated waste removal system. She contrasted these with the often lengthy wait times for doctor’s appointments and expensive waste management services prevalent in the US.

Furthermore, Fischer praised the ease and affordability of hiring skilled labor in India, compared to the high costs in the US. She also highlighted the abundance of vegetarian food options and the ubiquitous delivery apps that can deliver almost anything within minutes.

“Delivery apps are one of the most convenient things about being in India,” Fischer wrote. “There are dozens of apps that will deliver virtually anything to your door in minutes.”

Fischer’s observations follow a previous post where she detailed eight everyday Indian habits that she believes would make most Americans uncomfortable, ranging from eating with hands to the common absence of toilet paper. The full list of conveniences and the video can be viewed on her Instagram page.
