Tue Mar 11 16:20:00 UTC 2025: **Gujarat Giants’ Fulmali Blasts 61 in WPL Loss, Catches Coach’s Eye**

**Mumbai, March 11, 2025** – Bharti Fulmali, a relatively unknown middle-order batter for the Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), stole the show on Monday with a blistering 25-ball 61 against the Mumbai Indians. Although her team ultimately lost by nine runs, Fulmali’s aggressive knock has garnered significant attention and boosted team morale ahead of Thursday’s Eliminator.

Fulmali, a 30-year-old from Amravati, Maharashtra, had seen limited playing time this season, batting only once in the Giants’ previous three matches. However, entering the match with her team struggling at 70/5, she unleashed a powerful display, sending the Mumbai Indians into a state of panic.

Her performance is a testament to the WPL’s ability to provide a platform for less-known players. Despite two T20I appearances for India in 2019 followed by a period of relative obscurity, Fulmali’s talent is now shining. She was overlooked by WPL franchises in 2023 and only joined the Giants as a replacement player in 2024.

Giants coach Michael Klinger praised Fulmali’s power-hitting ability and expressed his hope that she will continue to be a key player in the upcoming matches. He highlighted her crucial role in bringing the team close to victory despite the eventual loss. Klinger stated that her innings were instrumental in keeping the game competitive and that he anticipates more impactful performances from her in the future. Fulmali’s coach, Sandeep Gawande, noted the challenges she faced after being dropped from the Indian team but emphasized her consistent strong performances at the Vidarbha level.
