The episode, the fifth in the series, showcases the rarely-seen behaviors of wolves, polar bears, lynx, caribou, and other animals inhabiting the frigid landscapes. The stunning visuals are complemented by an original score from Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
*The Americas*, executive produced by Emmy-winner Mike Gunton, is a five-year-in-the-making project showcasing the diverse flora and fauna of North and South America. Previous episodes have covered the Atlantic Coast, Mexico, the American West, and the Amazon. Future episodes will explore the Gulf Coast, the West Coast, the Andes Mountains, and Patagonia.
NBC is offering viewers a double feature this Sunday, with an encore presentation of the first episode, “The Atlantic Coast,” airing at 7 p.m. ET, before the premiere of “The Frozen North.” All episodes will be available for streaming on Peacock the day after their initial broadcast.
