Tue Mar 11 16:35:38 UTC 2025: ## Israeli Raid in Jenin Leaves Five Palestinians Dead
**Ramallah, March 11, 2025** – At least five Palestinians, including a 60-year-old woman, were killed in Jenin, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, over the past 24 hours, according to the Palestinian Authority (PA). This brings the total number of Palestinians killed since January to over 30, during a major Israeli military operation in the region. The Israeli military operation, involving thousands of troops, has seen widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure in refugee camps.
The PA reported that Israeli forces killed the five Palestinians in separate incidents, including a gun battle with armed Palestinians barricaded in a house, and a shooting at a checkpoint. One death resulted from a collision with an Israeli army vehicle. Additionally, the PA announced that its own forces killed a man wanted for previous attacks. The Israeli military confirmed some of these incidents, citing self-defense measures against armed Palestinians.
The Israeli government maintains that the operation targets Iranian-backed militant groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad. However, the PA and international observers have expressed concern over the high civilian casualty rate and the scale of the operation, calling for restraint. Countries including France and Germany, along with the UN, have voiced alarm.
Further escalating the tensions, armed Israeli settlers attacked the village of Umm Safa near Ramallah, setting three vehicles ablaze. The ongoing clashes highlight the volatile situation in the West Bank.
