Tue Mar 11 03:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Local Theatre Troupe Stages “Shivoham” at Ranga Shankara

**Bengaluru, March 11, 2025** – Chronicles of India (COI), a Bengaluru-based theatre troupe, will present its first Kannada production, *Shivoham*, at Ranga Shankara in J.P. Nagar tonight at 7:30 p.m. The play, written, designed, and directed by Ganesh Mandarthi, explores the multifaceted nature of the Hindu god Shiva, intertwining mythological narratives with a contemporary social commentary.

Mandarthi explained that the play draws inspiration from Shiva’s vulnerability following the loss of his wife, contrasting it with his strength and divinity. The production incorporates three key mythological stories: Bhasmasura-Mohini (highlighting Parvati’s strength), Rasaleela (Shiva’s transformation into a woman), and the encounter between Chandala and Shankaracharya (showcasing the intellectual prowess of a female character). These are interwoven with a storyline focused on the struggles of backward communities.

*Shivoham* features strong female characters challenging societal norms and male ego, according to the troupe’s synopsis. Tickets are available at the Ranga Shankara box office and on BookMyShow. This marks COI’s first performance at Ranga Shankara and a significant milestone for the young troupe formed in 2024.
