Tue Mar 11 03:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Choti Holi 2025: Hindus to Celebrate Triumph of Good Over Evil on March 13
**NEW DELHI –** Hindus across the country will observe Choti Holi, or Holika Dahan, on the evening of March 13, 2025, a day before the main Holi festival, Rangwali Holi, on March 14. This significant religious event symbolizes the victory of good over evil, commemorating the legendary triumph of Prahlad over the demoness Holika.
According to Drik Panchang, the auspicious time for the Holika Dahan ceremony is between 11:26 PM on March 13 and 12:30 AM on March 14. Families and communities will gather to light bonfires, performing Holika Puja and offering prayers. Traditional offerings include holy water, flowers, and other sacred items. The burning of the bonfire represents the destruction of negativity and the ushering in of prosperity and good fortune.
The festival is rooted in the story of Prahlad, a devotee of Lord Vishnu, and his aunt Holika, who attempted to kill him at the behest of his demonic father. Divine intervention saved Prahlad, while Holika perished in the flames, thus solidifying the symbolic meaning of the Holika Dahan ritual. This year’s celebrations will see devotees participate in the time-honored traditions, seeking blessings and a fresh start for the coming year.
