Tue Mar 11 01:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Majestic’s Transport Chaos: Commuters Demand Integrated System

**Bengaluru, March 11, 2025** – Bengaluru’s Majestic area, a major transportation hub serving lakhs of daily commuters, is plagued by poor infrastructure and a lack of integration between bus, train, and metro services, leading to significant inconvenience and safety concerns.

The convergence of the Kempegowda Bus Station, Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna City railway station, and Kempegowda Metro Station creates a critical transit point, but the absence of a unified system forces passengers to navigate hazardous road crossings to switch between modes of transport. Subways connecting the bus terminals and the railway station are poorly maintained, leaving many commuters vulnerable to traffic.

Commuters report dangerous conditions, especially the stretch between the KSRTC and BMTC bus stands, where multiple accidents have occurred. Poor facilities, including unhygienic toilets, inadequate drinking water, and a lack of seating areas, further exacerbate the situation. The area, once Dharmambudhi lake, now lacks basic commuter-friendly infrastructure.

“Switching from the metro to a bus is a nightmare,” said Praveen Kumar, a software engineer. Others echo his concerns, citing unsafe crossings, damaged footpaths, and a general lack of safety, particularly for women, especially at night. Venkatappa M., a frequent traveler, highlighted the appalling state of the toilets and lack of adequate waiting areas.

Despite a decade-old proposal by the KSRTC for an integrated transport system, progress remains stalled. A previous attempt to create a ₹1,500 crore inter-modal transit center failed due to lack of private sector interest. While the bus stand’s redevelopment is mentioned in the 2025-26 Budget, commuters remain skeptical.

Transport expert M.N. Srihari emphasizes the need for coordination between KSRTC, BMTC, and BMRCL to address the issue. He argues that seamless connectivity between different transport modes would encourage greater use of public transport. The lack of a unified approach, he notes, has left Majestic in a state of disarray.
