**Thiruvananthapuram, March 11, 2025** – The Kerala Social Justice Department has approved ₹7.98 lakh in funding for “Pride,” a project aimed at providing employment opportunities for transgender individuals. The initiative, spearheaded by the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission (KKEM), is part of a broader diversity and inclusion program.

The funds, allocated from the 2024-25 budget, will cover the cost of a “Certificate in Airport Operation” course for 10 transgender participants. Training will be conducted by KKEM’s partner, the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP), in collaboration with the Kerala GMR Aviation Academy, starting in early April at ASAP’s Kalamassery facility. A week of English language training will precede the main course.

The “Pride” project addresses the significant skill-gap challenges faced by transgender individuals, aiming to equip them with the necessary skills for employment in the aviation sector.
