**Siricilla, Telangana, March 10, 2025** – The Telangana government has launched a district-wide awareness campaign to encourage participation in its Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS). Despite offering a 25% discount on regularization fees, the response has been below expectations.
The government attributes the low uptake to several factors including unclear government policies regarding land disputes, stagnant land market prices, and a lack of sales. To address this, the government is conducting awareness meetings across the district involving real estate agents, layout owners, and other stakeholders. These meetings are being led by district collectors, municipal commissioners, and registration department officials. The campaign also utilizes flex boards for wider publicity.
In Rajanna Siricilla district, 42,942 LRS applications have been received, with 37,071 processed. 4,896 applications were rejected, and 975 applicants have already paid their fees. Officials are urging the remaining 37,071 applicants to pay their fees and regularize their plots before the March 31st deadline. The 25% discount will only apply until then.
The government estimates potential revenue exceeding ₹40 crore from the scheme, with each plot potentially generating ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 in revenue based on past market prices. Data shows significant variations in application numbers across different municipal areas and panchayats within the district, with Siricilla municipality receiving 10,493 applications and Vemulawada municipality receiving 16,336.
The state’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department has directed sub-registrars to continue accepting new LRS applications, reinforcing its commitment to the scheme’s success. The government hopes the intensified awareness campaign will expedite the regularization process and significantly improve participation.
