Mon Mar 10 10:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Princess of Wales Honors Teenage Photographer Who Died of Cancer
**London, March 8, 2025** – The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, paid a moving tribute to late photographer Liz Hatton on International Women’s Day. Hatton, who died at age 17 from cancer in November 2024, had met the Princess in October of the previous year, fulfilling a bucket list wish.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Princess shared photos of her meeting with Hatton and her family at Windsor Castle. She praised Hatton’s “strength and creativity,” and expressed gratitude for a “moving moment,” also commending Hatton’s mother, Vicky, for her unwavering resilience.
Hatton, from North Yorkshire, England, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer in 2024. Following her diagnosis, she created a bucket list that included meeting the Princess of Wales. In an interview with the BBC, Hatton described the meeting as “amazing,” highlighting the Princess’s kindness and humanity.
The Princess of Wales previously shared a post about the meeting, describing Hatton as a “talented young photographer” whose creativity and strength were inspiring. The Princess herself announced her own cancer diagnosis and subsequent successful chemotherapy treatment in 2024.
The Princess’s tribute comes ahead of her planned attendance at the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey on March 10th.
