**New Delhi, March 10, 2025** – The Indian government today requested Parliament’s approval for an additional ₹51,462.86 crore in spending for the current fiscal year ending March 31st. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants to the Lok Sabha.
The total additional spending requested is over ₹6.78 lakh crore, with ₹6.27 lakh crore offset by internal savings and receipts. A significant portion of the net additional expenditure will fund increased pension payments (₹13,449 crore) and fertilizer subsidies (₹12,000 crore). Further allocations include ₹8,476 crore for defence pensions and ₹5,322 crore for the Department of Telecommunications.
