Sun Mar 09 18:57:02 UTC 2025: ## VCK Leader Condemns BJP’s Actions Against OBCs and SCs

**Madurai, March 10, 2025** – Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan strongly criticized the BJP on Sunday, accusing the party of hypocrisy regarding social justice and reservation policies. Speaking at a religious harmony conference in Madurai, Mr. Thirumavalavan stated that OBC leaders aligning with the BJP are overlooking the party’s historical opposition to OBC reservations, citing the BJP’s role in toppling the V.P. Singh government which implemented the Mandal Commission recommendations.

Mr. Thirumavalavan highlighted the BJP’s amendment to the reservation Act, introducing EWS reservations for upper castes without sufficient parliamentary debate, as a violation of the Constituent Assembly’s intention for reservation based solely on social, not economic, criteria. He further pointed out discrepancies in income limits for scholarships, with significantly lower thresholds for SCs and OBCs compared to EWS beneficiaries.

The VCK leader questioned the BJP’s simultaneous mobilization of SC/ST/Adivasi votes while enacting policies deemed detrimental to these communities. He condemned the BJP’s alleged inaction against caste-based violence and discrimination against SCs, particularly concerning temple entry restrictions.

Mr. Thirumavalavan also criticized the Madurai city police for denying permission for an open-air meeting advocating social justice and religious harmony, alleging that this action contradicts the state government’s stated commitment to these principles. He further accused the RSS of strategically influencing influential figures, including doctors, writers, and civil servants.
