**Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh –** Telugu Desam Party Lok Sabha member K. Appala Naidu has announced a novel initiative aimed at boosting the population and empowering women in his constituency. Naidu pledged to deposit ₹50,000 in a fixed deposit account for every third child born to a family in his constituency who is a girl. He claims this sum could grow to approximately ₹10 lakh by the girl’s marriage. If the third child is a boy, families will receive a cow and a calf instead.
Naidu stated that he was inspired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s calls for increasing India’s population and that the initiative, announced during International Women’s Day celebrations, was also intended to address gender discrimination. He cited the positive influence of women in his life, including his mother, wife, sisters, and daughter, as motivation for the program. The MP intends to extend this offer to every woman in his constituency.
