**Dubai, UAE:** India has clinched the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling final match held at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. The victory marks a significant comeback for Team India, who last won the coveted trophy many years ago.

New Zealand, who had reached the final after a hard-fought semi-final victory against South Africa, put up a strong fight. Batting first, they posted a challenging total of 251/7, thanks to half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell (63) and Michael Bracewell (53*). Rachin Ravindra (37) and Glenn Phillips (34) also made valuable contributions. India’s spinners, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, were the pick of the bowlers, each claiming two wickets.

In reply, India’s chase was spearheaded by captain Rohit Sharma’s magnificent 76, studded with seven fours and three sixes. Shreyas Iyer (48), KL Rahul (34*), Hardik Pandya (18), and Ravindra Jadeja (9*) all contributed to the successful chase, with India reaching the target in 49 overs at the loss of six wickets. Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner took two wickets apiece for New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma was awarded the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock, while Rachin Ravindra received the Player of the Series award for his consistent performance throughout the tournament.

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner expressed his pride in his team’s performance, highlighting their fight until the very end. He acknowledged that a few small errors cost them the match but expressed satisfaction with their overall campaign. The tournament saw eight teams competing, with India emerging victorious after topping their group and defeating Australia in the semi-final.
