**Nagarkurnool, Telangana –** Rescue teams have recovered one body from the debris of the collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool, Telangana. The tunnel, which collapsed on February 22, trapping eight workers, has been the focus of a major rescue operation for the past two weeks.

The body, discovered late Saturday night, was found trapped inside a machine within the collapsed section of the tunnel. Teams are currently working to extract the remains. Cadaver dogs from Kerala have also assisted, detecting the strong odour of human remains, suggesting the possibility of more victims.

Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy announced the deployment of robotic technology to expedite the rescue efforts. He described the incident as a national disaster and stated the state government is utilizing global expertise to overcome challenges. Minister Reddy also confirmed that the cadaver dogs indicated the likely presence of three more individuals.

Despite the involvement of 11 national-level rescue teams and over 500 personnel, locating and extracting the trapped workers has proven extremely difficult. The government is seeking advice from international tunnel construction and rescue experts. Minister Reddy provided an update that a further review will occur on March 11th.
