**Madurai, March 8, 2025** – Collective effort is key to holistic development, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Chitra Vijayan asserted at a Women’s Day event organized by the Dhan Foundation. The event, which brought together young women and experienced leaders from Kalanjiam self-help groups (SHGs), showcased the benefits of intergenerational learning and collaboration for women’s empowerment.
Vijayan lauded the Dhan Foundation’s SHGs for providing a platform for this crucial interaction, and expressed confidence in a collaborative future between the Corporation and DHAN to maximize the impact of development initiatives.
M.P. Vasimalai, executive director of the Dhan Foundation, highlighted the impact of climate change and urged SHGs to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts to mitigate the effects of extreme weather events. The event also marked the release of a book and song titled ‘100 Kalanjiam in 100 Days’.
