**PALAKKAD, March 8, 2025** – The investigation into the January 27th double murder of Sudhakaran and his mother Lakshmi in Pothundy is nearing completion, with police expecting to file a chargesheet by March 27th. The accused, Chenthamara, who was out on bail at the time of the murders, is awaiting trial for the 2019 murder of Sudhakaran’s wife.
Police have recorded a statement from Chenthamara’s former wife, who described years of abuse and harassment that led her to leave him. She also stated that he behaved badly towards their neighbors. The investigation has identified three direct witnesses to the brutal killings.
Deputy Superintendent of Police N. Muraleedharan stated that the chargesheet is in its final stages of preparation and will be submitted to the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court at Alathur. Following the submission, the case is expected to be transferred to the Palakkad District and Sessions Court for trial.
