**New Delhi, March 9, 2025** – The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a prominent Islamic organization, has voiced strong opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024, calling it an unconstitutional infringement on Muslim rights. The organization announced its full support for a nationwide protest organized by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and other groups, scheduled for March 13th in New Delhi.
Jamiat chief Maulana Arshad Madani stated that the organization’s working committee decided in February to challenge the bill in state high courts and the Supreme Court if passed. He criticized the government for disregarding Muslim concerns regarding Waqf properties, describing the bill as government overreach into religious matters. Madani emphasized that Waqf properties are donations for community welfare and should be free from government interference.
He accused the government of attempting to strip Muslims of constitutionally guaranteed rights and condemned political parties, even those claiming to be secular, for supporting the bill, deeming their actions a betrayal of the Muslim community. Madani appealed for mass participation in the upcoming protest, highlighting peaceful demonstration as a fundamental democratic right. The statement concludes with a plea for the public to join the demonstration to show support for the cause.
