Sun Mar 09 08:34:39 UTC 2025: ## Delhi University Student Killed in Hit-and-Run; Two Arrested

**NEW DELHI** – A 19-year-old Delhi University student, Rishal Singh, who supported his family and funded his education by delivering newspapers, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Rohini on March 1st. Police have arrested two men, Pankaj Gupta (40) and his nephew Saurabh Gupta (26), a week after the incident.

Singh was cycling along KN Katju Marg around 6 am when a speeding Hyundai Venue, driven by Saurabh Gupta, struck his bicycle. The impact threw Singh onto the car’s windscreen; his bicycle was dragged under the vehicle before the car sped away, leaving Singh dead at the scene.

Police launched a comprehensive investigation, reviewing footage from over 150 CCTV cameras. This led them to a garage in Panipat, Haryana, where the damaged vehicle – with a damaged windscreen and bonnet – was found just as the accused were attempting repairs to destroy evidence.

Singh, a first-year student at Delhi University’s School of Open Learning, earned approximately ₹10,000 monthly delivering newspapers, contributing significantly to his family’s income and his own education. He is survived by his father, a factory laborer, three married sisters, and a younger brother. The family is now seeking justice. The arrested men are facing charges related to culpable homicide and evidence tampering.
