Sat Mar 08 18:16:01 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad’s Green Corridor Facilitates Record-Breaking Heart Transplant

**Hyderabad, March 8, 2025** – A successful organ transport operation in Hyderabad saw a donor heart swiftly transported from Kamineni Hospital in L.B. Nagar to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills in a mere 36 minutes. The 23-km journey, a testament to efficient coordination between medical teams and city infrastructure, utilized both road and metro transit, creating a “green corridor” to ensure the organ’s viability.

The operation, a collaboration between Apollo Hospitals and Telangana’s Jeevandan organ donation program, began at 8:04 p.m. The heart, donated by 49-year-old Kadari Jangaiah who was declared brain dead after suffering irreversible brain damage, traveled via ambulance to a metro station, then by metro to another station, before concluding its journey by ambulance to Apollo Hospital by 8:40 p.m.

The recipient, a 44-year-old father of three suffering from severe heart failure, was in critical condition. Dr. Manoj Kumar Agarwal, cardiologist at Apollo Hospital, stated the transplant was life-saving, as the patient’s condition had deteriorated significantly. The successful transplant highlights the growing effectiveness of organ donation programs and inter-agency collaboration in saving lives in Hyderabad.
