**Kottayam, Kerala, March 9, 2025** – A significant cache of explosives was uncovered in Erattupetta, Kerala, on Sunday, following the arrest of two individuals suspected of smuggling explosives. Police discovered electric and non-electric detonators, and gelatin sticks at a godown in Nadakkal, rented by Shibili, who was apprehended the previous day in Kattappana while allegedly attempting to smuggle explosives. A second suspect, Muhammad Fazil of Theekoyi, was arrested based on Shibili’s statements. Preliminary investigations indicate the explosives were sourced from Karnataka and intended for illegal stone quarries in Idukki and Kottayam districts. A thorough investigation is underway.
