Sun Mar 09 14:01:06 UTC 2025: ## Virudhunagar Excise Official Caught with ₹3.75 Lakh in Cash

**VIRUDHUNAGAR, March 9, 2025** – The Assistant Commissioner (Excise) of Virudhunagar district, Ganesan, was apprehended late Saturday night with ₹3.75 lakh in unaccounted cash, according to Vigilance and Anti-Corruption officials.

Acting on a tip-off suggesting Ganesan had accepted bribes from FL2-licensed private bars in the district, a team led by Additional Superintendent of Police K. Ramachandran intercepted his hired car at a check-post on the Virudhunagar-Madurai border. The search revealed a bag containing bundles of ₹500 notes in the back seat where Ganesan was sitting.

Unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the large sum of money, Ganesan was questioned but subsequently released. A Virudhunagar District Deputy Inspection Cell Officer, Rajiv Gandhi, assisted in the operation. Further investigations are underway.
