HYDERABAD, March 8, 2025 – Senior law enforcement officials from across southern India met in Hyderabad on Friday to bolster inter-agency cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking. Two high-level meetings, chaired by T.G. Venkatesh, Deputy Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)’s Southern Region, focused on strengthening intelligence sharing and collaborative enforcement strategies.
The first meeting involved representatives from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha. Discussions centered on sharing intelligence on drug trafficking networks, exchanging information on methods of operation, and coordinating the apprehension of suspects. Attendees included officials from state-level anti-narcotics bureaus and specialized law enforcement groups.
A subsequent meeting of Telangana’s State Joint Coordination Committee brought together agencies including Customs, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, the Intelligence Bureau, and the Income Tax Department. The focus here was on streamlining inter-agency efforts within Telangana to combat the drug menace.
The meetings highlighted the increasing need for collaborative efforts across state and agency lines to address the escalating problem of drug trafficking in the region.
