Fri Mar 07 16:28:36 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Budget 2025-26: Mixed Reactions from Stakeholders

**Mysuru, March 7, 2025** – The Karnataka State Budget for 2025-26 has received a mixed response, with business groups expressing approval while farmers and some political parties voice disappointment.

The Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) lauded the budget, highlighting provisions for Mysuru’s development, including ₹100 crore for Regional Endocrinology Centres and investments in infrastructure like the Mysuru airport (₹319 crore expansion). The MCCI president, K.B. Lingaraju, described the budget as “growth-oriented.”

However, the Mysuru Industries Association (MIA) expressed concern over the lack of funding for industrial zones like Mysuru Hebbal and Tandya, and the absence of allocated funds for MSME support. While welcoming allocations for a multi-skill development centre and a sports science centre, the MIA deemed the budget a “mixed bag.” Similarly, the Mysore Hotel Owners Association, while welcoming tourism-related allocations, criticized the budget’s failure to address the establishment of a Dasara Authority and the relocation of the suburban bus stand.

Conversely, farmers’ groups expressed strong disapproval. The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) president, Badgalpura Nagendra, criticized the budget’s meager 14% allocation to agriculture, despite the sector’s dependence on 60% of the state’s population. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) echoed these concerns, stating the budget neglected the needs of commoners, farmers, and workers, failing to address issues like price rises and unemployment and offering no substantial job creation initiatives. The party also criticized the government for not withdrawing agricultural laws deemed detrimental to farmers.
