ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Michigan State Spartans are Big Ten champions once again. A hard-fought 91-84 victory over Iowa on Thursday secured the conference title for the Spartans, their 17th overall and first since sharing the title in 2020. The win, which improves their Big Ten record to 16-3, gives them a two-game lead with one game remaining.

This victory also earns Michigan State the coveted No. 1 seed in the upcoming TIAA Men’s Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, granting them a double-bye and a first-round bye. Head Coach Tom Izzo secures his 11th Big Ten crown, tying him for the most in conference history.

The Spartans overcame a 10-point deficit in the second half, launching a decisive 18-2 run to take control of the game. Jase Richardson led the scoring effort with 22 points, while Jaxon Kohler and Jaden Akins added 15 points apiece.

Michigan State will conclude their regular season on Sunday against in-state rival Michigan at the Breslin Center (12 p.m. ET, CBS). The 2025 TIAA Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held March 12-16 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, featuring a 15-team field for the first time.
