Fri Mar 07 09:26:02 UTC 2025: ## WWII Bomb Halts Eurostar Service in Paris

**Paris, March 7, 2025** – Eurostar train services between London and Paris, along with other trains heading north from the French capital, were brought to a standstill today following the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb near the Gare du Nord station.

The bomb, discovered around 4 a.m. by construction workers, prompted the French national train operator, SNCF, to halt all traffic at the request of police. French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot described significant service disruptions throughout the day, with only limited service expected to resume in the afternoon. He urged travelers to postpone their journeys.

Gare du Nord, a major European transport hub connecting Paris to Brussels, Amsterdam, and the main Paris airport, experienced significant congestion as stranded passengers converged on the station. Minesweepers are currently on-site working to defuse and remove the explosive device.

While the discovery of unexploded ordnance from World War I and II is not uncommon in France, the location of this bomb near a heavily trafficked area is exceptionally rare. Minister Tabarot reassured the public that there is no risk of explosion and that established procedures are being followed.
