**Hyderabad, March 7, 2025** – The Telangana state government announced a sweeping range of initiatives today, including plans for a massive new city and a significant investment in tourism. The cabinet allocated ₹90 crore for the development of a “net-zero” fourth city, spanning 30,000 acres and encompassing 56 villages across seven mandals. This includes 36 villages currently under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), which itself will see its jurisdiction expanded by two kilometers, incorporating 332 additional revenue villages. A new Future City Development Authority (FCDA) will oversee the project.
Simultaneously, the government unveiled its Tourism Policy 2025-30, aiming to attract ₹15,000 crore in investment over the next five years by developing 27 tourist destinations. Preparations are also underway for the Miss World 2025 contest in May, anticipating visitors from 140 countries.
Further key announcements included the Mahila Shakti Mission policy, focusing on women’s financial empowerment and safety, and a plan to restore revenue administration in villages by reappointing Village Revenue Officers (VROs) and Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs), following the previous government’s decision to abolish these posts. The policy will consolidate existing women’s groups under a single umbrella, raise the retirement age for members to 65, and lower the minimum joining age to 15.
