Thu Mar 06 18:53:44 UTC 2025: ## JNUSU Occupies Dean’s Office, Demands Immediate Student Union Election Notification

**New Delhi, March 7, 2025** – The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) occupied the Dean of Students’ office today, demanding the immediate release of the notification for student union elections. The JNUSU has been protesting for weeks, accusing the university administration of deliberately delaying the notification to prevent the elections.

However, Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit attributed the delay to a pending case in the Delhi High Court stemming from last year’s elections. The court case, filed by a JNUSU candidate following the last-minute cancellation of her candidacy, is scheduled for its next hearing on March 27. The V-C stated that the university is prepared to hold the elections as soon as the court permits.

A recent notice from the administration urged all parties to avoid speculation and agitation regarding the delay and to maintain order. Last year’s elections were held in March, with the notification issued in January. The university is awaiting further clarification from the court before proceeding.
