Fri Mar 07 10:13:20 UTC 2025: ## AIADMK Expels Three-Time MLA for Supporting BJP’s Three-Language Formula

**Chennai, March 7, 2025** – K.S. Vijayakumar, a three-time MLA for the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) from Gummiddipoondi, was expelled from the party today. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced the expulsion, stating that Mr. Vijayakumar had acted against party policy and objectives.

While no specific actions were detailed, reports suggest Mr. Vijayakumar, also secretary of the Tiruvallur district unit of the Puratchi Thalaivi Peravai and the Ellapuram (north) panchayat union unit, participated in a BJP-led signature campaign supporting a three-language formula near Periyapalayam. He has since become unavailable for comment.

Mr. Vijayakumar first won the Gummiddipoondi seat in a 2005 by-election by a significant margin, winning again the following year. He was unable to contest in 2011 due to an alliance agreement, but regained his seat in 2016. He did not contest in 2021 as the seat was allocated to the PMK, another AIADMK ally. The expulsion marks a significant development in Tamil Nadu’s state politics, highlighting tensions between the AIADMK and BJP.
