**NEW DELHI** – Popular YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps) and Apoorva Mukhija appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) today for questioning. Their appearance follows a controversy sparked by offensive remarks made on the YouTube show “India’s Got Latent.”
Several YouTubers, including Allahbadia and Mukhija, were initially summoned last month but failed to attend, citing safety concerns, scheduling conflicts, and logistical issues. Allahbadia specifically cited death threats, receiving a three-week extension to appear. While Mukhija requested a virtual appearance due to safety concerns, this request was denied by the NCW.
The controversy centers around comments made by Allahbadia on “India’s Got Latent” deemed offensive regarding parents and sex. These remarks triggered widespread public outrage and numerous complaints, leading to police involvement. While Mumbai and Assam police visited Allahbadia’s residence to record his statement, they initially found it unoccupied. Allahbadia subsequently issued a public statement affirming his cooperation with authorities and claiming to have received death threats. The NCW’s investigation continues.
