**Portage, MI –** Stryker, a medical device company, announced the launch of Sync Badge, a hands-free communication device designed to improve collaboration and efficiency in healthcare settings. The device, a result of Stryker’s 2022 acquisition of Vocera Communications, utilizes voice commands to connect care team members across units and roles.
Sync Badge allows users to contact colleagues by name, role, group, or extension using voice activation (“Okay Vocera”). It also features a panic button that alerts security personnel to a staff member’s location and situation, and offers a “Do Not Disturb” mode with urgent call override capabilities. The device integrates with various systems including electronic health records (EHRs), nurse call systems, and patient monitoring equipment.
Stryker emphasizes that Sync Badge aims to address workflow challenges and alleviate the burden on healthcare professionals, particularly amidst ongoing nursing shortages. The company highlights the device’s ability to keep staff hands-free and focused on patient care.
“We strive to support the safety and wellbeing of care team members,” said Scott Sagehorn, VP and GM of Stryker’s Acute Care business. “The Sync Badge bridges gaps to ensure care team members remain hands-on where they’re needed most – with their patients.”
