**Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu –** A 25-year-old man, Muneeswaran, the prime suspect in the March 3rd double murder of a mother and daughter in Melanabipuram, was shot by police during his arrest early Thursday morning. Police say Muneeswaran, accused of killing 70-year-old P. Seethalakshmi and her 48-year-old daughter V. Ramajayanthi, attacked officers Sub-Inspector Muthuraj and Constable Joyson Navadhas. In response, a special police team shot him in the knee.
Muneeswaran is currently receiving treatment at Thoothukudi Government Medical College and Hospital. The injured officers are also hospitalized. The police, led by District Superintendent of Police Albert John, are actively pursuing the two other suspects involved in the alleged murder-for-gain crime.
