**Mumbai, March 6, 2025** – The Maharashtra government announced plans to establish a media monitoring center tasked with analyzing news coverage across print, electronic, and digital platforms. A budget of ₹10 crore has been allocated for the center’s creation and operation.

The center, to be run by the Directorate of Information and Publicity from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, will collect and analyze news reports, identifying factual inaccuracies and addressing negative or misleading information in real-time. The government stated the center’s necessity stems from the proliferation of media outlets and the need to monitor coverage of government schemes and policies.

A professional consultant, hired through an e-tender process for an initial one-year term (extendable to three years), will assist in collecting and categorizing news (positive, negative, etc.) and providing hourly alerts on media trends. The Directorate General of Information and Public Relations will oversee the consultant’s performance and contract extension.
