**Karur, Tamil Nadu – March 6, 2025** – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting searches at multiple locations in Tamil Nadu, including the premises of associates of Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V. Senthilbalaji. The raids, involving approximately 20 personnel from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, are part of a new money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities within the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC), the state’s liquor monopoly.
Among the locations being searched is the Karur residence of Sankar, a PWD contractor. This is not the first time these premises have been targeted; the ED and Income Tax Department conducted raids in 2023 and 2024 in connection with a previous money laundering case. The current investigation focuses on Mr. Senthilbalaji and his associates.
