Wed Mar 05 19:39:55 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Govt. Unveils Yamuna Ferry Service Plan Amidst River Cleaning Efforts

**New Delhi, March 6, 2025** – The Delhi government announced plans for a new ferry service on the Yamuna River to boost tourism, as part of a larger initiative to clean and revitalize the waterway. Irrigation Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, who inspected the river by boat, revealed that over 1,300 tonnes of garbage have been removed in the last ten days.

The Minister highlighted the BJP government’s comprehensive plan to address the Yamuna’s pollution, including connecting all drains to sewage treatment plants and increasing their capacity. He also mentioned ongoing repairs and improvements to the ITO barrage gates to prevent flooding. Further, the Delhi Development Authority is undertaking a riverfront development project aimed at transforming the Yamuna banks into a tourism and cultural hub.

Singh contrasted the current government’s efforts with the previous AAP administration, accusing it of inaction on the Yamuna’s cleanup and flood control over the past decade. He cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal involvement in the project, drawing a parallel to the successful Sabarmati riverfront development. The AAP has yet to respond to these claims.
