**Pune, March 5, 2025** – Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Supriya Sule has strongly condemned the murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, demanding a thorough investigation into the case and the resignation of those implicated. Sule’s comments follow the release of graphic photos and details from the chargesheet, revealing the brutal nature of the killing.
Deshmukh, who was abducted, tortured, and murdered on December 9, 2024, allegedly for attempting to stop an extortion bid targeting an energy company, was the subject of a 1,200-page chargesheet filed by the State Crime Investigation Department (CID) on February 27.
Sule questioned the 84-day delay in the resignation of State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dhananjay Munde, an NCP MLA whose close aide, Walmik Karad, has been named as the mastermind behind the murder. While Munde cited health reasons for his resignation, Sule pointed out that the government possessed the incriminating photos and footage for weeks prior. She accused the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers of inaction, demanding to know why they didn’t act sooner after viewing the evidence.
The NCP staged a silent protest in Pune to denounce the murder and demand justice for Deshmukh. Sule further called for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe over 100 suspicious deaths in Beed district, alleging possible links to the same extortion racket, and demanded the invocation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in the case. She also urged investigation into the call detail records (CDRs) of all accused to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy. Sule and other NCP MPs plan to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to brief him on the situation. The NCP leader concluded by demanding the strictest punishment for all those involved, stating those responsible for Deshmukh’s murder should be hanged.
