**Imphal, India –** A 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck Manipur, India on Wednesday, causing tremors felt across Northeast India. The quake, which hit at 11:06 am, was centered 44 km east of Yairipok in Imphal East district at a depth of 110 km. A second, 4.1 magnitude earthquake followed at 12:20 pm, striking Kamjong district at a depth of 66 km.

Tremors were reported in neighboring states including Assam and Meghalaya. While no significant damage has been reported outside of Manipur, officials in Imphal are confirming reports of cracks appearing in several buildings following the quakes. Videos circulating on social media show damage to a school building in Wangjing Lamding, Thoubal district, which is currently housing a relief camp for those displaced by recent ethnic conflict. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage.
