Tue Mar 04 17:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Playback Singer Kalpana Found Unconscious at Home; Critical Condition
**Hyderabad, October 26:** Popular playback singer Kalpana was found unconscious at her home in the KPHB area of Hyderabad on Tuesday evening, sparking concern among family, friends and authorities. The 45-year-old singer, who resides in a villa in a gated community, reportedly called her husband, Prasad Prabhakar, in Chennai, informing him that she was losing consciousness.
Prabhakar immediately contacted the colony association, who in turn alerted the police. Police arrived and forced entry into the singer’s home, finding her unconscious. She was rushed to a nearby Holistic hospital and is currently in critical condition, on a ventilator in the ICU.
KPHB police are investigating the incident. Prabhakar arrived at the hospital late Tuesday night and provided a statement to police. He reportedly stated there were no arguments between himself and Kalpana. However, police have taken him to the station for further questioning and seized his phone.
Kalpana, a native of Tamil Nadu, was previously divorced and remarried in 2018 to Prabhakar, a Kerala-based businessman. The couple has been living in Hyderabad for five years. Police suspect that an overdose of medication, taken for sleep and stress management, may have caused the incident. Initial investigations also suggest frequent arguments between Kalpana and her 19-year-old daughter. The investigation is ongoing.
