**THANJAVUR, March 5, 2025** – A seven-month-old infant, Brahadeesan, died on Monday after reportedly swallowing a deflated balloon, police said. The incident occurred at his home in Ooranipuram near Pattukottai, Thanjavur district.
According to police reports, the child suddenly collapsed while playing and was rushed to Pattukottai Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A post-mortem examination at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital revealed that a non-inflated balloon lodged in his throat caused breathing difficulties.
Thiruvonam police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
