Wed Mar 05 17:32:42 UTC 2025: ## Haryana Congress Grapples with Leadership Vacuum Ahead of Budget Session
**Chandigarh, March 5, 2025** – The Haryana Congress is facing internal turmoil as it heads into the state assembly’s budget session, scheduled to begin March 7th. The party remains without a Leader of the Opposition five months after the assembly elections, due to deep-seated factionalism between supporters of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and those opposed to him.
A meeting of Haryana Congress MLAs and senior leaders, chaired by AICC general secretary B.K. Hariprasad, failed to resolve the leadership deadlock. While officially focused on planning a party yatra, the meeting saw several leaders demanding the immediate appointment of a new CLP leader and state president.
Senior leader Captain Ajay Singh Yadav directly criticized current PCC president Uday Bhan, a Hooda associate, calling for a leader loyal to the party, not to an individual. The meeting also highlighted the need to strengthen the party’s organization at the grassroots level after their recent election setbacks.
Despite a report submitted by a team of senior Congress observers, the party high command has yet to announce a new CLP leader, fueling internal tensions. Prominent party figures including Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Uday Bhan, Randeep Surjewala, Kumari Selja, and Deepinder Hooda attended the meeting, but the leadership void remains a significant challenge for the Haryana Congress as the budget session approaches.
