Wed Mar 05 16:03:37 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Farmers Stage Protest, Demand MSP Guarantee
**Mysuru, Karnataka –** Farmers in Mysuru staged a demonstration on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, in solidarity with the ongoing Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) agitation in Delhi. Their key demand is a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for agricultural produce.
A memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the SKM’s year-long pressure on the central government to enact an MSP law. The Federation of State Farmers’ Association, leading the protest, stated that despite multiple meetings with Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Shivaraj Singh Chouhan, no positive outcome has been achieved. Federation Secretary Atahalli Devaraj condemned the government’s inaction and urged them to address the farmers’ concerns seriously.
Beyond MSP, farmers are demanding fair and remunerative procurement prices, implementation of the Swaminathan Committee Report on agricultural pricing, and a pension for all farmers aged 60 and above. They also seek revisions to the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane to include harvesting and transportation costs, timely payments for produce, improvements to the crop insurance scheme, and reforms in agricultural loans, specifically removing the linkage between CIBIL scores and agricultural loans.
The farmers announced that a third round of talks with the Centre is scheduled for March 19th. They warned of intensified protests if the government fails to address their demands by then.
