Wed Mar 05 00:19:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Police Crack Down on Cybercrime, Arrest 161 Across 11 States

**Hyderabad, March 5, 2025** – A major crackdown on cybercrime across India has resulted in the arrest of 161 individuals accused of various online fraud schemes. The Cyberabad police in Telangana spearheaded the operation, which spanned 11 states and uncovered 82 cases over the first two months of 2025.

The investigation focused on several types of cyber fraud, with trading scams proving to be the most prevalent, accounting for 37 of the total cases. A special drive within Telangana alone led to the detection of 32 cases and the arrest of 51 fraudsters.

Other significant categories of fraud included digital arrest fraud (15 cases, 27 arrests), and part-time job fraud (12 cases, 26 arrests). Smaller numbers of cases involved advertisement fraud, smishing, job fraud, fake customer care services, business and investment fraud, social media crimes, vishing, loan fraud, and identity theft.

Among those arrested were four repeat offenders from Surat, Gujarat, implicated in 11 cases of part-time job and trading scams. Law enforcement seized a significant amount of digital and financial assets, including mobile phones, SIM cards, cheque books, debit cards, laptops, and a vehicle. Investigations are ongoing.
