**Hyderabad, March 5, 2025** – The Telangana High Court has warned that a disputed land deal in Ranga Reddy district could be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy issued the warning after hearing a writ petition challenging the district Collector’s issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a 200-square-yard plot.
The judge questioned the Collector’s authority to issue such NOCs, stating that District Collectors lack the power to issue NOCs for property registration or declare government non-interest in a property. He directed the Chief Secretary to explain the legal basis for the Collector’s actions and ordered the filing of a counter-affidavit. Failure to comply will result in the referral of the matter to the CBI or ED for investigation. The case has been adjourned until March 3rd.
